Submission and assessment conditions
design
The design competition was open to the students of South West Regional College of TAFE who had completed at least the first year (or approved equivalent) of the two year Diploma of Building Design & Technology.
Submissions were due by the 9th of April, 2004.
The home design was to result in the following specific essentials :-
A reduction of embodied energy of building materials, comparative to standard “project” practice.
A reduction in energy consumption for habitation purposes.
A comfortable living environment.
A reduction in water use during habitation, and if viable, during construction.
A reduction in construction waste.
The home design should result in the following specific desirables :-
Recycling of solid and liquid waste, during habitation.
A reduction in energy consumption during construction.
The selected design created by Ian Whisson was built in 2005/2006 in Carey Park Bunbury.
